National Programmes
These are programmes offered by OCNs which have undergone a common
accreditation process. This means they usually have the following
features:
- No need for a local validation panel.
- Simply complete a proforma of how the programme will be delivered.
- A Tutor Accreditation Handbook available containing a summary
of how to run the programme.
- Optionally there may be off the shelf materials for use in the
delivery of the programme.
- A list of NOCN National Programmes is available at the
NOCN web
site.
- An OCNKM held summary
of NOCN National Programmes is available as a download
from this site. This contains summary descriptions of each
national programme.

Brief Overview

Working with Older People
|
A distance learning programme aimed at people working or
wishing to work with older people in a statutory, private
or voluntary context. It is particularly appropriate for people
recently starting work with older people. The distance learning
materials are purchased by the learner or by an organisation
(e.g. employer) and registered with the TOP Network.

Learning at Work
|
A programme developed by the Workers' Educational Association
(WEA) and UNISON which contains a number of discrete pathways
such as 'Return to Learn', 'Women Work and Society' 'Introduction
to Computers' etc. It is specifically intended for employees
who are low paid and who have not benefited from education
in the past. If your organisation is interested in this programme

Learning Disabilities Award Framework
|
This is aimed at those working in the area of care for people
with learning disabilities. There is a Certificate at Level
Two or Three and these are both national QCA approved Qualifications.
Achievement of the qualification or of its individual units
can be used to demonstrate knowledge of important vocationally
related information. This programme is jointly developed by
NOCN and City & Guilds Affinity with the support of the
Department of Health.
