What can OCNKM do for you?

On this page:

Open College Network qualifications and customised accreditation can meet a range of training and workforce development needs for employers. Just a few of these benefits are highlighted below.

Adding Value to In-house Training

OCN accreditation can provide an external recognition to the achievements of staff on training programmes either in the workplace or delivered as discrete training. This means that staff will receive nationally recognised credits which can be added to their CVs. It gives a target for the trainees and forges a link between in-house training and lifelong learning. If you are seeing Investment in People or other forms of external certification, OCN accreditation can be a huge help to your application.

Bite-sized Chunks of Training and Learning

As an alternative to expensive and/or long training/qualifications, OCNs enable you to offer realisable blocks of training which will underpin workforce development and progression onto other training/learning. In some cases we can offer nationally accepted alternatives to NVQs and we can always assist in the development of programmes which will underpin NVQs and contribute to retention and eventual achievement on NVQ Courses.

Nearly every adult, further and higher education institution in England, Wales and Northern Ireland is a member of its local OCN. A diverse range of organisations such as the BBC, The TUC and other trades unions, the Prison Service, NHS Trusts, Local Authorities and national charities (to name but a few), use OCN accreditation for their training and learning accreditation.

Flexibility

OCNs can provide a customised accreditation package incorporating national and locally developed elements which can be delivered by existing staff in their work place. We support open and distance learning and place a great emphasis on the need to give recognition for what is already happening (use of evidence generated in the workplace) rather than setting artificial and complex exercises. Ask us for details of how we can customise accreditation for your organisation.
