When a Word document is opened by Internet Explorer version 5 (IE5) and later version of Netscape, it appears as if Word has opened inside your web browser. However this is not the case, it is a simulated version of Word and in order to use the document properly you must save it as Word document and then re-open it in Word.
Internal hyperlinks will not work within Word documents opened in IE5 or Netscape. OCNKM increasingly embeds internal hyperlinks within Word documents to assist in navigation.
If you are not confident of how to save the document try following the instructions below (these instructions are for IE5, please adapt for Netscape):
1. Click on 'File' and then 'Save As' (the file name offered should be the one from OCNKM)
2. Select or create the folder on your computer where you wish to save the document (e.g. \OCN Documents)
3. Click 'Save'
4. Open Word and open the document from Word (or of course use Windows Explorer to open the file)
Now you can enter text to the document, use the internal hyperlinks etc.
If you encounter any problems with the downloads process either call OCNKM (01227 827823) or email ocn-km@ukc.ac.uk)
To exit this window please close the window by clicking the x in the top right hand corner or click on 'File' and then 'Close'
